Checking In...
after what felt like 40 days and 40 nights of constant rain, the sun finally came out. j vacuumed up about 40 gallons of water out of the basement (sounds like a lot but really isn't) and we're considering ourselves lucky since some folks have a lot of cleaning up to do still. other than that, nothing much to report really that doesn't consist of me whining about how much my life has been sucking lately. (and no one wants to hear about that).
i did however receive my fancy new camera. the nikon coolpix S4. a thing of beauty, let me tell you. it's cute, without being ridiculously small. it's got a comfortable amount of weight to it. (after playing with a girlfriend's canon digital ELPH i decided that there was such a thing as too small a camera ... for my russian wash woman cotton knitting hands anyway). there was some initial panic when i accidently set the menu language to Swedish but luckily i know that the swedish word for Yes is Ja and with my trusty manual was able to fix that. i've taken a few pictures but i haven't transfered anything to my computer yet. i'm afraid that when i load up the software needed, my almost 8 year old dell desktop will scream in protest and just refuse to work anymore. technically it should work. but that's a big should.
anyway, i'll write more when i've got some pictures to show.

You were missed this weekend!!

PS I forgot to add, some of my friends got married yesterday...the limo couldn't get down the bride's street because it was flooded, so the bride and bridal party had to hitch rides to the church...imagine waking up and finding THAT is your wedding day? Damn.

I hear you. It makes me very glad we only rent an apartment, as we've heard the flooded basement story from just about everyone lately. Hopefully this is the last of the rain for awhile. Imagine if it had been 8 days of SNOW?

Sun? Can you send some this way? Pleeeeease?
Gawd, this totally sucks. You'd think, ah, rain, cozy knitting time, but nooooooo....
Glad to see you're around and not floating too badly. Hang in there, baby, sounds like things are a bit rough right now. Bisoux :-)

Glad you are doing reasonably okay with all that rain.
