Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Banana?
am i the only one who is a little sad that march is over? i think i'm going to miss red and pink a little bit ... won't you? not that i don't love orange.
the last few days of march were spent knitting up another pair of socks in march/april transitional colors. (it's been confirmed. i really like pink and orange together.)
and i just started another pair. this time i'm trying claudia's picot edge.
again, lots of orange, a little bit of pink (there's yellow too).
and for sandy, some project spectrum april sky (taken at the crack of ass AM -- can't say i'm not committed).
now i need a little help. any ideas for what to do with this yarn i snagged from claudia awhile back (imagine that. orange yarn from claudia. so not like her.)
it's about 300 yards of katia ingenue -- a mohair, nylon, wool blend. anyone? anyone? (don't make me make a mohair tissue cozy people!)
if i pick your idea ... there might be a prize.

Hey, nice socks! I love that colorway. Are those the Olympic knitting project, Turtle?

The socks are great! I was very happy to read your bio, I will start an MPH program in the Fall. Thinking epidemiology but am staying as far as I can from biostats. Enjoyed reading your blog.

You could do that wrap that uses KSH and Colinette- with mostly KSH and then a row of Colinette...it's on Knitty....
Or you could make a mini version of The Gates for your kitties.

Grumperina's comment made me snort chai up my nose...
I love the socks... they are so wonderfully stripey and I adore really stripey socks.

The spreading of orange and picots is my life's work.

That's so pretty! I am knitting lace in mohair at the moment...maybe you can have a shawl pattern?

I think you should make River with the mohair. it is done on big needles with only 60 some stitches. That would be beautiful. I'm finishing one in pink ksh right now, and it's awesome!

Nice socks! I'm a fan of pink and orange together, too. Mmmmm. Yummy.
That orange mohair needs to be a lace scarf. I wonder if you have emough for a small Flower Basket Shawl, even? 300 yards isn't much, but it's a tiny little shawl. More like a triangular scarf, really.

Why not a nice lacey smoke ring or collar ring or whatever they call those things. You can wear it as a neck warmer but it can be put up on your head in the event you need your head covered!!...just a thought.

I'm with Elizabeth--a long, skinny, lacy scarf. More for looks than for warmth.

How about a tam? I can so see you in a jaunty little tam. ::snicker::

Hmm - maybe a stole on big needles? It would be light and airy...
Very pretty!

sorry i have no ideas for the very pretty mohair! your socks are shockingly well matched... do u have the appropriate shoes to show them off?

There is a kid's sweater that uses mohair for a big heart in the middle- the Suss Cousins book. Also there is that airy scarf in LMKG, but I don't know if it would be too itchy- it would be very springy and Parisian, though. Also Mrs. Beetons, but you would need some co-ordinating worsted weight to make it.
Are those socks both KP colors?

Um, no. I am not sad that March is over. In fact, I'd like to fast forward to May, please. Thanks.

Your socks turned out very delicious, M! Beautiful...a nice 'transition!' I can't wait to see what's up for you in April.
As for the yarn...I could have sworn I saw something for mohair in the new "One Skien" book. I'll have to go take a peek (if I can find my book in this mess-heap I call a home). Good luck with that yarn and it's future purpose! ;~)

Branching Out from Knitty would like good in that color. :-)

How about using it for occasional stripes in a winter sweater? I saw that done by the Yarn Barn in Kansas. The effect was really neat!

I have some red mohair (picked up at the closing of a LYS, so somewhat sad) and I want to make a fluffy, lacy scarf. Finding a stitch pattern that shows up in the mohair has been a challenge.
So my suggestion is a scarf that will float around your neck, lending color in the middle of winter, because that is what I want. I just haven't figured out how to create it yet.

I'm wondering if you can do something with the Alchemy Yarns Femme Fatale pattern?

Are those Sockotta socks?? I think I recognize the colorway - they look great!

Mohair tissue cozy?!? Oh, I get it, in fact it's very clever! Get close to the mohair, feel like you need to sneeze, and the tissue is right there!

Those socks look great! I love orange and pink together too!
I will also miss the reds & pinks around (orange & yellow are a bit more scarce around my house). I like the challenge of using colors I normally wouldn't though.
No idea on a pattern. The yarn looks lovely though!

Is it enough to make Kiri? Cuz mohair is great for that pattern.
