Hey Beyatch!
here are my bitchin' mittens.
i know, they aren't pretty. and i haven't even bothered to weave in the ends. but i made them from my very first homespun on my louet. yes, this is the monster yarn. ha! they're crazy looking, but they make me smile.
so does this guy.
**************************************************************
totally unrelated, i'm cleaning "house" by unloading some books and such. i'm going to be posting some old crochet books on ebay -- i don't think most of you would be interested (except maybe stitchy) -- but someone might be interested in this.
if you're interested in the book, just write me a comment. if more than one person is interested, i'll put names into a hat. let me know by friday noon, ET.

Count me in for the book, please.
love the monster!

Awwww, mittens only a mama could love ;-) Actually, you could call them shabby chic and say you *meant* to do that, right?

Great mitts!! Love the yarn monster.

Awesome awesome! That must be such a satisfying feeling to have created mittens from scratch with yarn you created from scratch!

Hmm... can you put a monster on a mitten? On second thought the mittens are fab enough as it is.

Love the mittens, and I bet they're warm!
Posted by: Martha | September 05, 2006 at 09:41 AM
You know, those mittens looks like something that would be featured in a very artful rustic sort of knitting book - you know, where the yarn would cost $22/hank, and the mittens wouldn't necessarily keep you very warm, but would look so I'm-rounghin-it-sheek.

Wow. I really need to get my shit together and knit something with my handspun!
I *love* your mittens!

From Momster to Bitchin' Mittens! Too cool. I also think the eyes and tongue would be a great touch to round them out. :-)

Love the mits, love the word "beyatch", and love the yarn monster!

OMG. Your first project from handspun! That is SO COOL.

The yarn monster is fantastic. I like your mittens too, they just need a tongue and eyes.
I'd be interested in your book and to know where to find you on ebay.

The mittens are terribly cute!
I'd be interested in the book as well. I have a few friends I'd love to knit some baby stuffs for. :)

That wins a KnitBloggy for most creative use of a yarn ball.

Good for you! I like your mittens. I love the yarn monster too. :) It took me forever to make something from my first lumpy handspun yarn. It's a great way to use your handspun yarn.
Posted by: Sydney | September 03, 2006 at 04:53 PM
That's a great way to use your first handspun. And I love the monster.
Posted by: Jenn | September 03, 2006 at 04:08 PM
Way to go, M! And what a good use for your handspun. Now how about putting silly eyes and tongues on the mittens? :D
Posted by: Marcy, Not Blogless | September 03, 2006 at 03:45 PM
Yippee for using your handspun! There is nothing better.
Posted by: Norma | September 03, 2006 at 02:42 PM
Good for you! I am mustering up some bravery to knit a pair of mittens. You inspire me! I too am interested in the book. I am a beginning knitter and am starting from scratch. Keep me posted on your book offer.

The mittens remind me of natural and comfy. Nice! Really cool of you to give a book away, I do have that one or I'd up on my hind legs begging...I'm crazy about the Yarn Monster! So where do I find your store on EBay? Although I just started knitting, I have crocheted since well let's put it this way, some of the patterns in Stitchy's new book, I ah...MAY have made 1 or 2 of those when they were new patterns ;)

Mittens are a great idea for all the handspun that Patrick has done.
Love the monster.
Posted by: Vera | September 03, 2006 at 12:30 PM
Hooray for you! Knitting with the handspun!
Posted by: Carole | September 03, 2006 at 11:38 AM
So did you actually sit down and knit his tongue for the photo? :)
I love the mittens...what if you felted them to even them out?
If you're really giving the book away, I'd be interested.

This is a great book - I own it already or I'd snag it up. There are some cute easy kid patterns in it...
