I Don't Like Mondays
this morning, i was on this train, in the second car.
i was one of the many lucky ones. my knee's a bit sore, from when i hit the seat in front of me when we stopped short, but i'm not complaining. it could have been so much worse.
the local police and fire departments were on the ball, as were the train crew. people that normally don't make eye contact with you, were helpful and concerned. and everyone remained unbelieveably calm. there were a few grumbles, but i think we all felt a little bit lucky that for the majority of us, the worse would be that we'd get to work a little late.

how bizarre! i'm glad you didn't get too banged up. now, when someone poses the random question of, "have you ever been in a train wreck ?" you can says "yes!" ... so unexpected and uncommon.
so, rats! i did not see you at rhinebeck. i did not see the fantastic scarf! i did play bingo, but i wasn't a very good player, because i don't notice the people very much because i'm always trying to look past them and see the yarn. and the big blogger meet up gave me the geebies, so i fled to touch more yarn. that was my lost, but perhaps i will see you at a future sheep & wool somewhere :)

OH MY GOODNESS!! You all had some fabulous guardian angel flying along side, didn't you? I saw that on the news, I am so glad you are fine. Hope that knee feels better very soon. Funny, as I watched the news, and the interviews they did with passengers I had a strong feeling that I would see someone I knew. You must have spoken with a different station. :)

So glad you're alright-I saw it on the news. It sounds like people were pretty shaken, but luckily not as bad as it could have been. Scary!

Holy hell, I'm so glad you're OK. I watched the news coverage of this incident to see if anyone I know was involved. Thankfully it was just your knee, but how was the ride in this morning? Scary?

Glad you're ok! I'm also glad to hear that the PD and FD and train crews handled it capably. I guess all the increased disaster response in recent years has helped...

Posted by: Alison | October 24, 2006 at 08:45 AM
Holy shit, woman! That sure is a hell of a way to start the week. I'm very glad you're ok.

Oh my! I am so glad that you are only slightly damaged. I know its hardly any comfort, but it could have been so much worse!
I had a car accident last month (not my fault) and it was mostly minor, but I still have a black eye, the car needed $4k+ of work, and I had weeks of physical therapy and pain. Everytime I go through that intersection now I cringe like I am going to be bashed again. Its gonna be really hard to get on the train again for you. I am so sorry.

I saw that one the news last night. And you were on that train?!! I'm so glad you're okay. Be more careful from now on, I don't want to have to worry about you.
