S is for
one of my favorite flowers.
they're the radio city music hall rockettes of the flower world, the syncronized swimmers of nature, following the sun as it cruises from east to west across the sky.
i love their big giant heads and the fact that they can grow to be taller than i am.
hearty and easy to grow, they provide beauty and nourishment.
and they make me smile.

Oooo. Sunflowers. We tried to grow some, but a bunny ate them.

LOVE the sunflowers! Takes me back to my honeymoon out in CA - also nice this time of year when the sun seems a bit far away...

I love sunflowers en masse like that. When I was a child (nine years old) we spent part of a summer traveling through Roumania. One of my memories was of stopping by the side of the road for lunch along side a field of the tallest sunflowers. They must have been 8 or 9 feet tall. Quite impressive especially for a kid- looking up at these "suns" with their flowery faces looking down on me!

Lovely - I always enjoy it when the Tour de France goes through the sunflower country.

Great pix! Sunflowers always make me think of Van Gogh in one of his more cheerful (less melancholy?) moments.

High kickers, indeed! France does such a good job of raising them en masse.

Love sunflowers, your pics today are awesome! With peace in the house & Rhinebeck approaching, are you like, in a GREAT mood or what? I'm the only person (I think) that isn't going.

oh my word, that bouquet is gorgeous...it literally made me gasp! :)
For the wedding that I was in a couple weeks ago, the bridesmaids carried sunflowers and purple irises just like that...
