Eye Sore Friday and Ravelry
how about a little housekeeping today?
1. thank you so much for the lovely compliments on the ripple. and i love that some of you have admitted to now wanting to learn how to crochet just so you can make one yourself. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! my work here is done.
2. is it wrong that i want these shoes? and in this color? (this is the eye sore part of the title)
3. and finally ... have you heard about RAVELRY yet? yeah i'm a little late to the party. fashionably late of course. it's the brain child of frecklegirl jess and her code monkey husband casey and bob the dog (well i'm sure he's been very supportive). and it's wonderfully clever. it's like a merging of flickr and blogs and knitting and CROCHET (YES, CROCHET PEOPLE!!!) . and i understand that spinning will be thrown into the mix soon. it's still in it's beta version, but i've been given 3 invitations to dole out. if you are one of the very fashionably late like i am and have not received an invitation, begged for an invitation (pathetic), or actually added yourself to the queue to get an invite from the ravelry people (that's jess, casey and bob) and would like to play along, just let me know. first come, first serve.
thanks for your interest -- but all of my invites are gone. but you can always sign up.
ok, that's all i've got for today. have a good weekend everyone.

I think the shoes are great, they are the most comfortable things going and since I injured my foot it's all I can wear right now. Normally I don't wear them out but currently have no choice. I too have size 11 feet and have trouble finding anything of style in Toronto...too bad for me I guess...ciao

I totally dig the shoes.

I am super excited about Ravelry! And also, I say go for the shoes. I don't have an urge to get any, but there's not a particular reason for that.

not sure about those shoes, girl friend. although...people swear by them...the color is awesome..so i say...if they REALLY are comfortable - go for it!!

I've been tossing around the 'clear clogs' idea in my head...not sure if they're worth it...
...those are pretty ugly...just sayin' ;o)

Crocs are indeed ugly but they are the fad right now so you'll be hip wearing them. :) If I could wear orange shoes those would definitely be the ones!

Lands End Tellos? Just got the catty myself. I'm a Born sandal girl but DD has a pair of these and LOVES THEM! Highly recommended!
Posted by: Liz | May 05, 2007 at 07:23 AM
Alas, Crocs don't have enough arch support for me. At least I can wear equally clunky Keens!

Crocs are soooo ugly. I resisted the trend last year, but now I read a friend's blog and she says they're like walking on air.
Well, I don't always get to walk on air. So if they're cheap, I might try them this year. I could always use them as an excuse to show off handknit socks, right? I just have to find an obnoxious color that isn't orange because I don't want people to think I'm trying to be you :)
Posted by: Kristen | May 04, 2007 at 08:33 PM
Surprisingly, I love the orange (and I'm a black/grey gal)!
Posted by: Nora | May 04, 2007 at 04:09 PM
Apparently Claudia and Norma have been practicing orange mind control on you as well...
Posted by: Lucia | May 04, 2007 at 04:04 PM
You enabler!
Posted by: Tracey | May 04, 2007 at 03:32 PM
I love the shoes! And they're cheap!
Posted by: Anne | May 04, 2007 at 03:19 PM
I'm torn on the croc issue. They're very trendy, and that puts me off, but they also look like they might be super-comfy, which I like. Hmm.

I love my crocs, and you KNOW how I am about shoes...
Go by them, right now!
I want some of the prima crocs they just came out with. Love them...

I am going to succumb to croqs this year, too. Ugly, yes. But they are supposed to be good for your feet and I need that. BAD.

I have absolutely no problem with those shoes in that color. In fact, my fashionista teenage son has a pair of Crocs in that shade. I say, go for it. Life is too short to wear dull shoes. In fact, I wrote about my admiration for a couple pair of shoes that might rival yours in my 4/27 post.

There is nothing better for making a blanket than crochet. Beautiful! If you like the shoes, get em. Think how many socks you have that probably clash with them and could give your one friend apopolectic fits!

#2- yes, it is wrong. I come from Home of the Croc, and although the teeny tiny mary janes pass my stringent inspection, there are no others that meet my high quality standards.
Posted by: Cathi | May 04, 2007 at 02:02 PM
Yes, those shoes are wrong. But if you love them, you should buy them. I won't tell!

oh i am on ravelry too, i am going to go add you as my friend :)
i haven't figured out how to do much except add projects. i admit i am not sure how well i'll keep up since that is what i use my blog for.

Thanks so much for the kind words about Ravelry- Bob is DEFINITELY not pulling his weight around here. He is, as I type this, snoring away on the kitchen floor. Sheesh.
We are doing the best we can with the invites! Please, be patient, fellow commenters. :)

I'm sure the invites are long gone, but that's okay - once it's out of beta, I'm sure I'll hop on that bandwagon. It does look like just a great idea.

That model has got some skinny ankles. How does she hold her self up on those things?
Posted by: Cheryl | May 04, 2007 at 01:17 PM
*hangs "pathetic" head in shame*
Posted by: pamela wynne | May 04, 2007 at 01:17 PM
Ha! I almost bought the same eyesore!

Back away from the mock-crocs slowly. Do not make any sudden movements. Just step away calmly. That is my advice as a friend.

Can I beg for an invite? Where? I signed up for an invitation, but haven't heard a peep.
Posted by: cauchy09 | May 04, 2007 at 12:59 PM
I like the clogs and I like the colour.
Imagine them with a tan :)
Posted by: kat | May 04, 2007 at 12:41 PM
Dude, I'm steps away from begging for an invite too.
Posted by: caro | May 04, 2007 at 12:40 PM
I like the clogs, but I'm not sure about the color. Then again, we're not talking about me.
I've heard of it. They linked to the along I'm running, but I don't know anything about it and I'm not cool enough to get invited to anything. *L*
Posted by: Cookie | May 04, 2007 at 12:33 PM
I'm in the queue, but I'd love an invite if you still have one to spare.
Posted by: Ann | May 04, 2007 at 12:26 PM
I'd love an invite if you're willing to spare one!
Your ripple absolutely has me wanting to crochet...and Cara's mitre blanket has me wanting to collect every color of cotton yarn I can possibly find now. :)
Posted by: Liz Cadorette | May 04, 2007 at 12:15 PM
The ripple blanket IS lovely. Reminds me of the beloved afghans my me-mere crocheted for me.
I've added myself to the Ravelry queue - it totally looks like a fun place to play, not that I really need any more internet time wasters, really.

Orange croc-like clogs! I like them!
Posted by: Sara | May 04, 2007 at 11:58 AM
Nothing wrong with the shoes if you're a duck ;-) Kidding...Ravlery is soooo coooool. I could hang out there way too much.
