Random Wednesday
1. j normally works three 12-hour shifts per week so even with my 3-4 hour daily commuting time i still manage to make it home before he does on mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays, even if it's just by minutes. usually i don't care but yesterday i was very relieved to beat him home, because sitting on my front stoop was a big box of yarn from knitpicks and my spunky club fiber for july package. not that he cares what i buy especially since his toys cost him SO MUCH MORE than my toys ever do, but you know, i just didn't want to have to hear it. "JESUS CHRIST WOMAN! HOW MUCH YARN DO YOU NEED?" especially since just days before, i received my fiber of the month from adrian and caroline. yes, i'm a joiner even if it means i have to pay to get into your club.
2. what is that yarn from knitpicks for? babette. i'll have you know that i'm not jumping on some bandwagon here. i've been planning on crocheting this blanket for a year. just ask anyone who knows me. anyway, since koigu is a bit too $$ for me, i decided to go with palette and ordered one skein of every color. yeah i know -- that's a little overkill as the pattern only calls for 17 or 18 different colors. but i needed to do a little experimenting and who knows what kind of modifications i might make. at first i was a little disappointed when i opened the box. but this morning i mixed all of the skeins around and saw some intriguing color combos develop. after i weigh each and every skein (yeah knitpicks i'm watching you) i'll start crocheting.
3. i'm this close to finishing the boteh scarf. but i have to frog the last triangle as i don't have enough yarn to crochet the border. pictures are coming.
4. finally, the pictures that i normally would include in this post are in my camera. and since i can't post without a picture ... it makes me itch ... i give you fruits and vegetables from dick kelly's farmstand in upton ma that i took on sunday.

Beautiful photos!

Funny, I heard that same thing from RR today...right after he said, "that package couldn't possibly be for ME could it?" and got pissy when I asked him if he planned on learning to spin since it was fiber ;o)
Babette will be gorgeous - and I didn't think for one second that you were jumping on anything, bandwagon or otherwise :o)

I love your photographs, Maryse. Absolutely gorgeous.

Can't wait to see your color combos.
As always, the pics are great.

Man, why do you have to go and make me hungry like that when I have to eat in the work cafeteria today? My stomach and my desire to eat lukewarm gross pizza are conflicting each other!

You pictures are gorgeous. I can't wait to see your Babette (that sounds midly pornographic, now that I read it). :-)

I'm the same way about packages. If I get to them first, I open them right away and hide the evidence. Especially if the 'evidence' is fiber. ;-)
And of COURSE you're knitting Babette! That pattern was practically MADE for you. Lots of color, lots of little fiddly bits = ideal Maryse project. ;-)

Lovely pictures! I know your Babette will be stunning! I still drool over your ripples! (ignore how that sounds just this side of perverted!)

Mmmm. One of my FAVORITE summer treats, is to get fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, and then cut them up and salt them. I'm pretty sure that's the farmstand that Andy and I frequent, but if not, I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks for the link to local farmstands as well, that's an awesome resource.

What gorgeous photographs... Almost makes me want to eat cabbage.
3-4 hour commute a day?!? Wow. Is it at least mass-transit so you can knit?

Yay! Dick Kelly's is a great farm stand, yummy.
In answer to how much fiber does some one need? Just one more box/skein after this one...

When I go on eBay binges, I just tell Jon that Mike (the youngest of our cats) somehow got the password for my eBay account and has been buying up a storm. But since I don't want to squelch creativity, not to mention his mad computer skillz, I can't possibly stop him.
Because Mike has no thumbs, I have to open the packages that have been pouring in for him. I'm always sure to compliment him on his lovely sense of style. He seems to have the same taste as his momma and has been picking out some fantastic vintage fabrics lately. He's such a good boy.
Those photos are delicious! And you can be in my club, free of charge! It's Dot's Poop-of-the-Month Club. Every month, she eats a new and interesting fabric, then "processes" it for you.

Mmmmm, farmer's market.
BEst thing about living alone? Never having to hide your yarn.

LOL Yes, I think I might have heard something similar out of my husband's mouth :) Your fruits and vegetables look delicious!

My hubby collects vintage Playmobil. Much like Koigu, little bits can be expensive. So, we both try to be the first to get to any packages that get delivered!

Those blueberries look great. I hide yarn packages too.
