TGIF
today has been a very good day.
for one, i took a personal day. so i didn't have to go to work. and that, my friends, is enough of a reason for why this day was so good.
but it gets better. see, i took today off with one purpose in mind...and that was to clean my office/yarn room. not a major clean up -- i didn't take all of my books off the shelves and sort them or anything. my closet still has more craft crap than i can possibly use. but those two messes weren't making me not want to come into the room. it was the stuff on the floor, on the futon couch, stacked in corners, and the boxes. the billions and billions and billions of boxes. many filled with fiber and yarn.
several hours later, 4 garbage bags, and a stack of flattened boxes (to save for packages of my own or for recycling) later, i'm done. i ran out to home goods and found this awesome shelf/drawer thingy that now houses all of my unspun fiber. and it matches the furniture in the rest of the room! my floor is clear. i even have a yarn cake winding station!
oh, i also registered to take a test. luckily, the test is scheduled the saturday AFTER rhinebeck. (i procrastinated all summer, my bad). i think i'm ready to crack open the books again. i think. i'm hoping i'm not too old or too stupid to go back to school.
and tomorrow, j and i are going to go out and buy windows and roofing supplies! i've had such a productive day today that i'm even excited about windows!!!
i'll end this post with a little eye candy. i think it's pretty anyway.

Neither old nor stupid. I guarantee it.

I love personal days! I don't usually get the things accomplished that I planned to get accomplished, but I'm glad to see someone stick true to their goals!

You're never too old to go back to school. Did you hear about the 101 year old woman who recently graduated from college with a B.S.? Or, how about the 94 year old woman who just completed her Master's? I'm 43 and I just decided to go back to school to complete my degree. I start classes in a week. Yay for both of us!

oh, you're so good! i've taken personal days to clean and organize, but ended up spending the day watching movies and knitting. it was fun, but my craft room still looks like hell.
tell us, tell us, what you'll go to school for!

Yay for getting the room in "working order".
Second, stop procrastinating on that test!! You are neither old nor stupid, plus we go to school to learn, not judge. (remind me of that when it's mid-Sept. and I'm overwhelmed with classes, ok?)
I'm jealous of your personal day. Stay at home moms don't get those. :)

Way to go! Now come to my house please :)

Awesome! I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes days off from work to organize

Days like that are magical, aren't they?! Go, you!

I think it's great that you're going back to school and I'm sure just making that decision helped to make it a great day! It's so nice to feel like you're moving forward, and you'll do very well, I'm sure.

Windows! Oh yeah. We finished installing the last of the downstairs ones yesterday. Now we just have to stain the wood and caulk the exteriors, oy! And then we get to start on the upstairs. ;-)
Congrats on your mission successfully accomplished! It was smart of you to do that before starting the windows... at least one part of your house will be ship-shape. (I still have a living room full of power tools, etc.)

hey, glad you had a great day and a clean-up... now you are ready for anything!

certainly not too old or stupid for school, trust me!
as for organizing, i thought i was doing well, then i started washing up fleeces, and now clouds of fiber are scattered everywhere,in various stages of dryness. talk about mess....

That's how I spent my Saturday (cleaning & reorganizing) - I wish it had been Friday though. Good luck (in advance) on the test!

Doesn't that feel good? Some day, I'm gonna do that too ;) Never too old to do ANYthing--never.

Sounds like a day very well spent.

I did the same thing in my kids' rooms. Ugh -- there were just piles and piles of small plastic objects that needed to be cleaned up and tossed. Now, there is clear floor space and some semblance of order. I just don't want to come home from vacation and look at the piles! Now, on to my own room!
Congrats on your lovely neat office. And good luck with roofing supplies.

WTG with the organizing thing - I so need to work on that. Have lived in the new place 2 months now and it still looks like I'm unpacking (could be because I am) I love Home Goods, I've been going there a lot lately, then again mostly because there is no place else. Ooh, a new roof, fun-fun-fun :) Have a great productive weekend.

Hey, if I can do the back-to-school thing, you can, too! I'm not even the oldest person in my program, much to my surprise. What's the test?
Posted by: Catherine | August 10, 2007 at 10:49 PM
Hey Maryse, that's great news! Don't be ridiculous - you are neither too old nor too stupid to return to school. You'll do just fine! What are you going to study?
Posted by: Elinor | August 10, 2007 at 09:50 PM
well you should be proud of yourself! I love a clean studio/office. Nothing makes me feel more productive
We play hooky every Friday :) {my boss is a real pushover}
We just got home from: back-to-school shopping, followed by the "UnderDog" movie {which was terrific} and dinner out.
AND the weekend weather is going to be beach worthy!
I say we're off to a good start! Enjoy!
Good luck on the test :)
