What a Difference A Year Makes
hi! i know it's thursday. today is the first day since coming back from Rhinebeck that i don't feel broken. yes, rhinebeck physically broke me. "humpty dumpty sat on a wall and had a great fall" broke me. but since i wasn't counting on all of the king's men to put me together again (why ask a man to do something when a woman can do it better) i'm all fixed now. oof!
anyway, by now you've heard all about rhinebeck and probably couldn't give a rat's ass about reading another post about it, but i have pictures and nothing else to talk about, so you're going to get a "what i did at rhinebeck" post from me. sue me.
so what did i do at rhinebeck?
1. i saw animals
2. i contemplated the buying and eating of snacks (but i was good at the fair only stuffing my face at dinner time).
3. i admired and fondled yarn and wool
4. i sold some cards!
(i might have pestered people to buy my cards. sorry the picture looks like crap).
5. i might have lovingly heckled jess and casey a little at the ravelry party. but it wasn't my fault. the devil made me do it. (and the raffle was totally rigged by the way).
6. i hung out with my boston/rochester/nyc/fresno-ish/connecticut girls (aka "my boyfriend."). not that you would know it though since without intending to, i spent a lot of time on my own. that's ok. i'm kind of maverick that way.
7. i bought a monkey wearing a sweater.
8. got kristin nicholas and clara parkes to sign copies of their new books for me. (totally awesome books by the way)
9. and finally met the yarnbee.
what didn't i do?
i didn't bring home any wool.
maybe next year.

Gorgeous, perfect photos. And yay for the new Etsy shop!

Lawsuits are just way too expensive, so I'm not gonna sue you. :)
P.S. Nice rack! (of cards)

Never enough pictures of animals. Thanks!

You do sheep shots the best!
Posted by: Laurie | October 28, 2007 at 07:09 AM
Now, what kind of black sheep can you be if you haven't any wool?
Posted by: cyn | October 27, 2007 at 11:35 PM
I would never sue, I don't get to go, so I love to see everyone's account of the festivities;) Sounds like you have a great time and your cards are great! You got some really nice shots too.

I love the pictures. What kind of camera do you use? They're all so crisp and beautiful!
Posted by: Jenn | October 27, 2007 at 01:22 PM
great photos, but even more impressive self control!
Posted by: Mintyfresh | October 27, 2007 at 12:27 AM
Beautiful Rhinebeck photos. The sheep especially deserve to be on notecards. It is never-endingly interesting to me how differently different people shoot the same subjects.
Posted by: claudia | October 26, 2007 at 08:43 PM
And you saw me! But not for nearly long enough.
Now about that Etsy shop...
Posted by: Lucia | October 26, 2007 at 07:45 PM
No wool? Good for you! :o)
Your cards were beautiful - I got overwhelmed and couldn't make up my mind on which ones to get. Sunday wasn't a good day for me. I'm sorry again - and I'll shut up about it now.
...except to say, if you open an Etsy shop or an online shop or whatever I will definitely buy some. It's easier for me to make up my mind when I'm not surrounded by people.

Beth S sent one of you cards to me! You do fabulous work. I really can't believe you went home with no wool!
Posted by: margene | October 26, 2007 at 06:18 PM
I can't believe you didn't buy any yarn or fiber...or is it just that you bought non-wool yarn or fiber?
Posted by: Cathi | October 26, 2007 at 04:04 PM
Great pictures! I shall live vicariously through you since I don't know when I'll ever get to go to Rhinebeck.

That boyfriend thing? My husband calls y'all that.
Love the card vending machine.

Holy moley. No wool? Can we interpret that to mean that you brought home silk, linen and mohair instead? ;-)
Your cards were gorgeous, just as I expected. :-)

Wait. You didn't get any wool? Does that mean fiber, specifically, or did you not get any yarn either?
Scratching my head all the way from Fresno-ish...

I want to scratch their heads and cuddle them!!
Posted by: Sara | October 26, 2007 at 12:44 PM
Aww, I just melt over the sheepie photos! You know you had a good time when you come home with a monkey! :)
Posted by: Sarah | October 26, 2007 at 12:17 PM
Wow, not a single wool purchase? I'm incrediby impressed at your restraint!
Posted by: Lindsey | October 26, 2007 at 11:43 AM
Hanging by yourself makes it oh so easier to not buy anything, doesn't it?
Posted by: Martha | October 26, 2007 at 10:54 AM
You didn't bring home any wool?! *gasp*
Posted by: Chris | October 26, 2007 at 10:42 AM
That's okay, sweetie, I bought enough yarn for both of us and then some. I'm still really sorry I missed you at the diner. But speaking of consumerism, are there any cards left?
Posted by: Amy | October 26, 2007 at 10:42 AM
No yarn? Who are you, and where did yu get your superhuman willpower?
Also, open an etsy shop please.

It was so great to finally meet you in person! I love your photos of the festival - especially the animals. More cards with new photos?
Posted by: Cheryl | October 26, 2007 at 08:37 AM
I thought your cards were wonderful, and every time I was in Mel's booth someone was buying them, so I think other people agreed with me.
Posted by: Cheryl | October 26, 2007 at 07:40 AM
Dude, you bought a monkey. That rules.
I don't think there can be enough Rhinebeck posts. I'm still in withdrawal.
Posted by: Michelle | October 26, 2007 at 07:06 AM
Did you really not buy anything?
Posted by: Carole | October 26, 2007 at 06:58 AM
Wow, I love those cards. Do keep us informed on possible etsy-selling. :) Your photos are always so great!
Posted by: Jenifer | October 25, 2007 at 11:59 PM
No one believes that "the devil made me do it" b.s. You've developed quite a reputation for sass all on your own, my dear. And in case anyone asks, it was totally my Mom's fault. Yep, my Mom made me do it. Damn Heckler. Damn front & center table stealing all of our prizes. That green sweater kit totally had my name on it.
And you know I bought two of your beautiful cards. So beautiful! I can't wait to frame them in my new house. The house that I'll decorate all.by.myself. If I want to paint the outside purple and the inside orange, damnit, that's what I'll do. Freedom! Oh ... ADD-attack ... ahem ... cool cards. Well done lady. Well done.

So cool you did well with your cards!
Posted by: scout | October 25, 2007 at 10:56 PM
It's okay to spend a lot of maverick time at Rhinebeck. I certainly did. It felt good.
Posted by: colleen | October 25, 2007 at 10:41 PM
My favorite card sold out before I could buy it. Beth S. snatched it out from under me. You'd better be printing more. Oh, umm, glad to see you again too! And when anyone asks "did you go to the Ravelry party" I can say "yeah, I was with the heckler".
Posted by: Danielle | October 25, 2007 at 10:39 PM
Darn it! You just reminded me I forgot to back on Sunday and get the monkey. Actually that monkey is knit from wool - so there you go you brought home wool.
Your gnome card was a hit. I just gave it to my gnome loving visiting friend this evening and she's even going to frame it :) Must make more gnome ones.
It was nice seeing you although it was very brief.
Posted by: michelle | October 25, 2007 at 09:51 PM
congrats on selling your cards!
That's great. Why did you decide not to buy yarn? I would think that would be the perfect place to buy it :)
Looks like you had a great time.
Posted by: kat | October 25, 2007 at 08:22 PM
You actually MADE money, instead of spending money??? Ohmygosh. You might want to watch that. You could start a trend and put all the yarn makers of out business. You know, like KFYS did. ;o)
Posted by: elizabeth (the first) | October 25, 2007 at 05:01 PM
Oooh you had an official looking card rack! :)
Posted by: Macoco | October 25, 2007 at 03:21 PM
I totally missed your cards. I searched high and low!
Posted by: elizabeth | October 25, 2007 at 03:20 PM
You should have hung out with me- some fiber would have definitely been following you home :-) I'm seeing wonderful photos above that could be used for future cards. I bought some of your cards and will definitely buy more! Love the last one.....glowing hanks of yarn in the afternoon sun- makes me smile.
Posted by: Manise | October 25, 2007 at 03:14 PM
What?! You didn't buy any yarn? You must have super duper will-power.
My friend wanted that monkey, but she didn't get it.
