Ahh Spa
so like a lot of new england knitters/spinners i too went to freeport, ME for the Spa, Knit and Spin event sponsored and organized by the New England Textile Arts group. it was my first time (*blush*) and i'm so glad i went because i had a wonderful time.
despite the snow.
so what did i do while i was there? well judging by the pictures i took you would guess that ...
i hung out at *$ with friends and took really flattering photos of them with my wide angle lens. (yes, caro and adrian are not three times bigger than danielle and the temporarily blog-less mafia)
and that i shopped for fig cake and cheese.
and you would be right. because i did do those things (i might have eaten some cheese too).
but that's not all. i enjoyed some wonderful meals with great friends. i knit despite the fact that i kept forgetting my knitting in the car thereby having people call me a poser for not being a real knitter because i don't carry my knitting with me everywhere i go. i did do a little shopping and i might have had a cocktail or two but not nearly as many as some people. *cough*
what i didn't do? i didn't spin. the wheel never made it out of the car. and other than these random photos here, i didn't take any pictures. so i'll just have to get those blackmail photos next year. oh yes, you read that right. I'LL BE THERE NEXT YEAR!
as an aside, i'd just like to again tell you all how much i love my little car. BECAUSE MY LITTLE CAR GOT ME SAFELY TO MAINE AND BACK IN THE FRIGGIN' SNOW!!! it even got me up the uncleared scary ice and snow covered hilly driveway of the hotel. (i also must say that i'm very glad that j insisted that i get my brakes fixed BEFORE going to maine despite the fact that the costs of the brake redo was equal to the price of an extremely nice wheel.)

How did I totally miss SPA? I didn't even know it was going on. dang.

I live in upstate New York, and people are asking me all the time how my Mini does in the snow. It's great! that sturdy little car just goes and goes. Why would I drive anything else?
It looks like you had a fantastic time!

In your cheese photo, do you see "Reblochon"? I live in Reblochon land! It's some of the stinkiest cheese EVER! :)
Looks like a great time!

Temporary might be permanent. Just sayin'. And don't I still get a link? Geez.

Oh my god. I totally forgot about drunk dialing Elisa, but Cheryl's right. We did! I vaguely remember hauling ass down a hotel corridor to get someone that I knew would want to talk to Elisa. It felt so important in the moment, but I can't remember who it was. Whoah. Clearly it was a good weekend.

There weren't many pictures, but they were good ones (I'm a fan of wide-angle distortion).

The one year I don't go and you are there. So pissed that I missed you!!!

Sounds like a swell time. And, while expensive, brake work is always a good thing!! We can't spend all our funds on yarn and wheels. (or can we?)

Maybe I did have a few too many cocktails. I vaguely remember drunk dialing Elisa. . .

mmmm, cheese :)
Great photos.
Sounds like you had a terrific time.
I love your car and I haven't even met her/him :)

I just realized I also saw your damn car in the parking lot and STILL didn't know it was you. *lol*

Sounds and looks like a great time! And I'm very glad that J insisted on the brake thing.

You may only have a few photos but they are still wonderful.

Um. My god. The cheese shop? Ou est, s'il te plait?
Must.Know.

That cheese picture should be on one of your notecards, if it isn't already. Just looking at it makes me hungry.

Pfft, brakes are over rated, I would have bought the wheel. ;)
Sounds like you had a great time.

That J's a smart man.

Maybe I'll be there with you someday!

Ohhhh, it sounds like such a nice weekend! I need something like that.
And alcohol would so definitely be involved.

I had a great time and I'm totally in for next year.
And I didn't get any blackmail photos either. In fact, I barely have any pics with humans in them. I suck!

Okay, dude - the cheese looks aweseome. Super duper awesome, in fact.
Posted by: elisa | February 29, 2008 at 02:05 PM
Is it too early to book a hotel room for next year?? And, yummmmm, cheese.
