B is for ....
of course, it's only B and i'm already behind. *sigh* oh well, i guess i've been too busy yarn shopping because ....
B is for Binge!
you know, because i didn't already have a large enough stash.
so yeah, i've been a little out of control. since christmas, i've done some damage and i'm afraid that i'm having a hard time stopping.
i'm going to blame this crazy shopping frenzy on the fact that i'm hungry most of the time with the weight loss plan and everything and the depression of being stuck on a weight loss plateau while the rest of you all eat yummy snacks that i can only dream about like a child and sugar plums. see, i'm delirious with the hunger.
or i'm doing my part to help the US economy get back on it's feet. yeah that's it.
or maybe because all of this yarn is just so damn pretty.
ooh pretty lorna's laces bullfrogs and butterflies for a clapotis (my third. but this one is for me)
or some baby ull for adrian's snail mittens in The Book of Yarn.
or ......
some green alpaca for another gathered scarf .
and then there's the sock yarn . i kind of fell head first into a giant bowl of sock yarn. but sock yarn is like vegetables .. NO POINTS! so i can binge all i want on sock yarn, right? RIGHT?!

I recognize a few of those yarns from my stash! Isn't it great to have choices?

Control is overrated. My favorite LYS, only 3 years old, is going out of business. Control be damned!!!

I am totally with you! My recent yarn fever seems to be directly (and inversely related) to my calorie intake.
And I am counting points too! And yarn is 100% fiber, right? right.

Great "B"!
Posted by: sandy | February 06, 2008 at 09:13 PM
I will live vicariously through you.
Please to continue buying yarn now, thanks.

...there is no such thing as too much stash.
Posted by: Sara | February 06, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Right. Please don't kill anyone, take it out on the yarn.
;-)
Posted by: claudia | February 06, 2008 at 09:53 AM
Binge away! It's instant gratification AND an investment in future happiness!
Posted by: elizabeth | February 05, 2008 at 09:21 PM
My rationalization of the yarn stash is that the doctor told me to get more fiber. So I did. And I don't mind getting more.
Posted by: cyn | February 05, 2008 at 07:47 PM
Ooh, I can't wait to see how your Kureyon Sock knits up! None of the LYS around me have it just yet, but I'm very curious to try it myself.
Posted by: Sarah | February 05, 2008 at 07:06 PM
So there's what, something wrong with buying yarn?
Posted by: Carol | February 05, 2008 at 05:59 PM
I feel a yarn binge coming on. Must.look.away...
Posted by: Sunnyknitter | February 05, 2008 at 04:37 PM
'Splain a little of it to me. The lighting, do you have a white box? Etc.
Lots of great yarns, btw.
Posted by: Teresa C | February 05, 2008 at 03:56 PM
Hahaha...I like that the sock yarn has no points!! Just like veggies on WW.
Posted by: Oiyi | February 05, 2008 at 01:01 PM
If you really feel that you have too much there, I'd be happy to give it a good home.
Posted by: Lucia | February 05, 2008 at 12:45 PM
No one here is in a position to cast any stones, believe me. ;-)
I hope you're starting those mittens soon. I really like the colors you chose! And what, pray tell, is the purple crack going to become???

Plus, I hear that global warming might cause sheep to go bald. I think you are being prudent.

It's true, we are on the brink of a recession. We have to snap it up now, while there are still stores open to buy from. Before the yarn ration coupons come out. Before we have to stand in line for hours every Monday for a little skein of coarse wool.
Posted by: Cheryl | February 05, 2008 at 09:39 AM
oh I don't blame you for binging. those are beautiful!
Posted by: kat | February 05, 2008 at 09:19 AM
... " i can binge all i want on sock yarn, right? RIGHT?!"
I certainly hope so.
Posted by: Ruth | February 05, 2008 at 09:16 AM
So pretty! It's hard to resist such beautifulness...
Posted by: Valerie | February 05, 2008 at 08:12 AM
Such beautiful yarn. You crack me up with the sock yarn = no points. ;)
Posted by: Macoco | February 05, 2008 at 08:01 AM
No points *and* extra fiber! Those colors in the Bullfrogs & Butterflies are fantastic, it'll be an amazing Clapotis when it grows up.
Posted by: Bethe | February 05, 2008 at 07:59 AM
I said the same thing to myself after my recent buys -- it's important since we're on the brink (or really in) a recession. I bought the same Ultra Alpaca -- isn't it a gorgeous color.
Posted by: Kathy | February 05, 2008 at 07:20 AM
I'm thinking you don't have enough sock yarn.
Posted by: Carole | February 05, 2008 at 07:14 AM
Hey, pretty soon you'll be skinny *and* have pretty yarn!
Posted by: Anne | February 05, 2008 at 03:06 AM
I so know this feeling - well the binging on yarn part - not the hungry stuff. :) Since the first of the year (when the sales started) I've gone slightly crazy myself. Now I just need to find time to knit this stuff up. But boy do I love your pictures! Definitely drool worthy :)
Posted by: michelle | February 05, 2008 at 01:27 AM
I am on a SERIOUS yarn diet--that is, there is no room for ANY extraneous purchases, and people are just flaunting yarn all over the damn place!
Posted by: Mintyfresh | February 04, 2008 at 10:44 PM
Oh, I'm going to live vicariously through your binge :)
Posted by: Felicia | February 04, 2008 at 09:09 PM
And excellent choice for "b" (and one I know very, very well!). Beautiful stash you have...
Posted by: jessica~ | February 04, 2008 at 08:34 PM
Beautiful yarn. I would not have been able to resist, as well.
Posted by: mari | February 04, 2008 at 08:34 PM
OH! such beauty, that first shot is gor-juss! And I just wanted to tell you how proud I am to know of someone else (other than me) who is really going all out and doing their part to solve all the world economy problems... cuz you know if we Americans don't spend, it's the ruin of the free world... and since most others I know, who are doing their part, are focusing solely on things like shoes and skirts for spring, and new cars, new dishes and maybe flat screen tvs, I am particularly gratified to know that you too are doing your best to keep all the yarn purveyors in business for 2008... onward with the debit card is my new motto...
Posted by: Liz | February 04, 2008 at 08:22 PM
Also, if you're saving money on food and drink, then you're bound to have more money for yarn. Enough to cover all of that yarn? Oh, a *technicality*.
Posted by: Suzanne | February 04, 2008 at 07:56 PM
That variegated one--I wants it. I wants it bad.
Posted by: Ashley | February 04, 2008 at 07:55 PM
*drool*
Posted by: Suzanne | February 04, 2008 at 07:54 PM
And your point is what? about buying yarn as part of a weight loss plan?
Posted by: alpaca kath | February 04, 2008 at 07:14 PM
I like that, no points :) I'm in the same point driven boat my friend, stay strong! =)
Posted by: Amber | February 04, 2008 at 07:02 PM
*drool* Right! Right! Pretty. *drool* Oh, kitty toes!
