More Fire Knits and Attack Geese

yesterday, a woman at work rudely asked me why i was wearing a scarf in the office.  (i didn't consider the question rude.  just the woman.  trust me.  she's very rude.  always. and unstylishly scarfless)  i told her that it was freezing in my office, which it is.  but the other reason i wear scarves is because i have lots of them.

and here's one more.

wavy scarf

this is the wavy scarf from knitty, knit in malabrigo worsted in sealing wax.

wavy scarf

i added a slip stitch edge to give it a more finished edge.  details raveled.

and having nothing to do with scarves but a sure sign that spring is just around the corner (despite the fact that this morning i woke up to snow falling).

the geese are back

the geese are back!  (although how great would they look with a little red scarf around their necks).  see how close they are?  they were really that close.  i must have had "snack" written all over me.

Comments

One of the good things about working from home - no rude officemates (unless you count the teenager, heh)

Love the scarf!

I just love love love the color+texture of this scarf! I swear, you just make ALL the best scarves. :)

OMG! My in laws have 2 metal garden geese (or maybe they're swans) that have red scarves!! I'll take a photo for you next time I'm down there. And yes, they look much more polished with the scarves.

Rude people suck. (Never mind when they question wearing handknits. Asshat.)

I had no idea you needed an actual reason to wear a scarf knit from Malabrigo... that lady is totally insane! ;)

Awesome scarf! It looks so squooshy and the color is just beautiful. I wear scarves inside all the time. It's how I survive winter in an old house.

Oh, rude people.

I love the scarf, and I wear scarves indoors All The Time. I like them. They're like bits o' blankets. :)

Oh my goodness I love it. Really truly love it. I've seen a lot of Wavy scarves but this one is by far the prettiest! I think it must be the Malabrigo. ;-)

The red wavy scarf is gorgeous. The office woman sounds like a cretin :-)

Some people have NO filter, in brain --> out mouth. Love the scarf, look fab.

Scarf + a wee beret = tres stylish geese!

I like Wendy's response! And then give her the pout Francaise. Love the scarf!

Oohhhh. Those reds are beautiful for wavy. next time rude coworker asks you something so stupid, wouldn't it be funny to snap back "Because I can. Why are YOU wearing that face?"

The scarf is great! I want more scarves. And you should have answered, "You mean, you aren't? Hmmm." And then just turn back to work. Confuse her.

And you think "snack" was written all over you? I'm thinking "clueless." Those things can turn on a person in a second!

Em can be SO rude, can't she? Just kidding. I wear scarves indoors all the time and no one says anything! Love that color!

Squishy!

(the scarf, not the geese)

Clearly the woman was jealous of your wonderful scarves. And the geese? The Fenway population has no shame. They might eat the scarf given the chance.

Think *I'm squishing your head! I'm squishing your head!* when someone is rude like that.

What a great scarf, and your photography of it makes it look almost good enough to eat! I definitely want to reach out and feel it, if not eat it. :)

That's a beautiful version of the scarf. And yeah, the geese are here, too, all year round.

It's beautiful! Ignore the rudeness and continue being your stylish self!

oooh I'm dying to know who it was. Sadly, I'm not surprised. Speaking of which you missed out some "free" cantaloupe the other day. Ick.

What she meant to say was "I wish I had a scarf to wear in the office!":) It is fabulous! Love the way the Malabrigo knits up - the waves pop!

How nice! I agree, the geese would look great in a scarf. Love working with rude people, they're great for blog fodder and inventing new ways of name calling ;-)

Love the scarf. And those geese never go away around here.

Now, that's some fire! Gorgeously so... and them geese, indeed would look better with a little touch of red accessories, I just dare someone to get up close enough to adorn them, cuz they can be way scary... all that hissing and biting and honking...

I not only wear scarves in my office, but I wear wristwarmers and shawls too! It's freezing in the corporate environment!

That Malabrigo is the most gorgeous color!

Pity the scarfless.

I wonder if the geese were waiting for their scarves.

Good idea with the slipped stitch edge! If I make one again, I'll add that.

I saw a robin for the first time Sunday.

The scarf is very cute! And, the geese are so sweet looking - You - a snack...nah...they were just happy to see humans after this long, cold winter! :)

LOVE the scarf... it's super cute!

The geese are cute... but they'd be better if they were robins! Man, I miss my robins!!

Beautiful scarf! The geese look like they are preoccupied with intergoose relations.

I like the idea of a slip stitch edge on Wavy - if I knit the pattern again, I'll totally do that.

The scarf is beautiful, and I looks stunning on you, I am sure. :)

Beautiful scarf, I don't blame you for wearing it around the office, I wouldn't even need the excuse of a cold office.

Geese are scary. though you are right a little red scarf would look great on them.

That's a great scarf, and I just love the name of the color!

You should have said, "Because I'm French."

I wear a scarf at work every day because it's cold. But, that's nothing compared to my colleague who wears a pink sheepskin hat. In the office. (Like this one, except mauve-ish pink -- http://tinyurl.com/33emra)

I have read that a good thing to say to people who ask impertinent questions is, "Why do you ask?" Although, usually I am too dumbstruck to even think of it.

Love the scarf, and it really does resemble sealing wax in that pattern.

what's up with the rude lady? You should have sent her out to see the geese :)

Lovely scarf as always. Love the colour.

One ?? -- (I can't see the picture -- at work) -- did you slip the stitches knitwise or purlwise?

I loves scarves too and feel sorry for her that she doesn't share the love!

OMG, if you wore that around the office, I'd have to follow you everywhere! Silly woman.

Gorgeous scarf - I bet it's buttery soft. She was probably just jealous. Hmm, if we don't hear from you again, we'll know the geese got you...

I love the scarf! Make sure you wear it all day at work and walk by the rude woman a few times.

LOVE the color. Non-knitters are just silly people.

well, they probably did fly in from far away. You were probably looking quite yummy :O) as is your scarf. Great job.

Oh, and I hate rude people. Wish they had a mute button

oooo cool scarf!! love that color.
