when sandy first tagged me, my initial reaction was "holy crap sandy!  do you know how many folders i have?  who knows what's in my 6th folder?!"  a slight overreaction, i agree (i've been overreacting a lot lately.  i think it's stress related).  but those early folders were 3 digital cameras ago. 

well when i finally did look,  my 6th folder was my trip to france in 2002 folder.  and all of the photos in that folder were shot with film and my old nikon N65.  and this is the 6th picture.

this photo was shot in the summer of 2002 on one of my parental visits to france and it's the inside of the village church.  this church, l'eglise st. etienne,  was originally built in the 12th century.  most of it has been restored over the years but parts of it are original.  that blows my mind.  i mean think about it.  900 years ago, people were worshiping at that altar.  my guess though is that they did not sit in those chairs.  

so now i have to tag 5 people.  i'm not going to do that.  but if you do this meme, let me know.

Saturdays Are For Knitting and Watching Hallmark Movies

yesterday, after my wacky dream about my friends, i called one of them up.  the one i've known since we were in the 8th grade.  and i was relieved to learn that she was not mad at me.   in fact, we had a great chat.  it's funny.  she lives barely 20 miles away from me and we rarely see each other or talk, but when we do, it's like we're bffs again. 

my saturday started with the alarm going off at 3am.  30 minutes later, we were driving to the airport.  i dropped j off for his flight to japan and by 5:15 i was back home.  i took out the trash for trash pickup, let the cat out, and went back to bed.  later on in the day, i did some knitting -- i've got a couple of new projects on the needles -- and watched bad movies on the hallmark channel.  for lunch i ate leftover green bean casserole.   i wasn't entirely lazy though.  i did empty the dishwasher.

Just Friday

last night (well this morning actually) i woke up from a dream that left me feeling a little lost and confused.  in this dream, i run into some old friends, one i've known since i was a kid, and in my dream, they all refuse to talk to me.  and it's frustrating because i keep running after them to find out why they're so mad at me.  i know that in real life, these women can't be angry with me, as our relationships have always been about living our lives and enjoying our brief times together when they happen, even if months or years separate those events.  so i have no idea what my sub-conscious is trying to tell me.

it could be that i'm just anxious about j's trip to japan.  he's excited, and i don't blame him, but i'm worried that something might happen to him while he's so far away.   i should tell myself what i would tell any of you in this situation...everything will be ok. 

ack!   alrighty then, here's a photo that has nothing to do with my anxieties or my dreams.  these dried buds are what is left of my anniversary flowers.

10 on Tuesday on Wednesday

yesterday's 10 on Tuesday was "10 Things I Want for the Holiday."  before i start, i have to clear something up.  i grew up being told over and over again that i was not to say "i want" but rather "i would like."  so here goes...

1.  i'd really like a copy of Photoshop.
2.  but for Photoshop to run on my computer, I would need more RAM and while i'm at it, a bigger hard drive.  oh hell, I would like a better computer.
3.  i would really like it if someone did all of my christmas shopping for me.  i am so not interested in doing any christmas shopping.
4.  i would really like to be 10 years younger.  i have a birthday coming up.  can't you tell?
5.  i would really like a dog.  the cats are awesome, but i miss having someone who is excited to see me every day.
6.  i would really like to have a lifestyle that would be fair to a dog.  we're both not home at least 12 hours a day and whereas the cats don't seem to care, the dog would.
7.  i would really like it if my inlaws stopped buying me gifts.  they mean well and i understand that they feel bad that we buy gifts for their kids and get nothing in return (because we don't have kids).  but they've got college tuitions to pay for and even after 7 years, they still haven't figured out that i really have no use for a gurgling tabletop water feature. 
8.  i would really like this economy to stop shitting the bed so that i could feel confident about finding another job.
9.  hell, i would really like feeling confident about pretty much everything.
10.  i would really like for everyone i love to stay healthy and be happy.  oh and peace on earth.

i almost just went to bed without posting tonight.  j's not home tonight.  he's in NH for work.  just me and the cats.  i was going to do "Ten on Tuesday" but i don't have the energy now.

Oh Edward -- Take Me!

so saturday night, i got together with the girls and we went to see Twilight.  yeah yeah, i know what you're thinking. aren't we a little too old for Twilight?  yep, maybe.  but since my inner 15 year old is still alive and kicking, i think i was just mature enough to appreciate it.

my expectations were low.  i'd read two of the books and well they're kind of crappy in a "i must read these so i can find out what happened but god i hate these books" sort of way. and in some ways, the movie is the same.  overly melodramatic, unintentionally laughable in many places and awesome in it's cheesiness.  yes, awesome.  some might say it  sucked, but i had a wonderful time.  i think i want to see it again.

day 219 -- i really didn't want to post today.

Go Pards!

today is 144th Lafayette - Lehigh football game.  it's the most-played college football rivalry in the country (and in the world because no one else plays football).  so yeah, they've played against each other more than yale and harvard have. 

it's been a long time since i've been a 'pard (short for leopards) and i have to admit that i'm not one of those gung ho alumni.  i visited a lot in the couple of years after graduation and i did go to a few local alumni events but i lost interest when i stopped recognizing people.

but whenever i see a "lehigh" sticker on someone's car window or notice someone wearing a lehigh sweatshirt, i can't help but whisper under my breath "lehigh sucks!" 

heh heh  beat lehigh!
