So It's Been Snowing for 3 Days ...

and earlier today i measured the snow that had piled up.  fifteen inches people!  and that was 3 hours ago.  and it's still snowing.  which is fine with me when i have no place to be. (true, i still have some christmas shopping to do, but i wouldn't have shopped today anyway).

so other than some shoveling (so i have gotten some exercise) i've done nothing but knit all day and take some photos.  and photos of my knitting.

these are a christmas gift, a pair of house socks.  nothing special but i hope the recipient enjoys them.  the details are raveled here.

and this is the most adorable beret that i test knit for through the loops.  this one is called "katie" and you so want to buy this pattern (it's two patterns for the price of one).  (i apologize that the photo isn't great, but it's all i could manage today.)

Snow's Coming!

the local meteorologists are in a frenzy of excitement at the prospect of a decent sized snow storm coming our way on friday.  i have to admit that i'm pretty excited as well.  they're talking about a 12 inch dumping in my area and if it's got to snow then it might as well be enough to make it ok for me to take a snow day.  woo-hoo!

i got to make sure to buy bread and milk and eggs tonight.  it's funny what a craving we new englanders get for french toast in a snow storm.

Snowball the Dancing Cuckatoo

so earlier today, a work colleague told me about Snowball the Dancing Cuckatoo.  apparently until Snowball showed up on YouTube, it was believed that humans were the only animal on the planet that danced (you can read the short piece that came out in the New York Times magazine yesterday here.)

well it appears that birds may after all be able to cut quite a rug as well.  i'll let you be the judge.  it's pretty freakin' funny.

and it's pretty clear that he's reacting to the music if you watch some of the other videos.  seems like he's a fan of Queen.

A Hillbilly Christmas

there have been a few foreclosures in the neighborhood and one house on our street was abandoned some time this summer.  earlier this fall when the grass was a little out of control, a passer-by asked our neighbor if our house was abandoned.   with the inflatable snow globe on the front lawn, i'm hoping that kind of speculation will cease.  i mean really.  would you leave without your snow globe?

Another Saturday Come and Gone

i had big plans for today.  but as has been my habit lately, i stayed in my pajamas until past 3 and only then got busy and actually accomplished something.  i didn't go to the gym (i know, i suck) but i did drag up the inflatable snow globe and installed it.  that took all of 10 minutes.  and i also did a little inventory of equipment that i had and needed to buy for another christmas-y project.  (it's a surprise.  but you'll see soon.) then i went to the hardware store and the supermarket.  yep, that's my life.  living on the edge.

i also watched 3 of this week's episodes of the young and the restless and did some knitting.

yep, that's it.
