Saturdays Are For Shopping At The Mall

today i went to the mall.  i almost never go to the mall and i certainly haven't been on a saturday in a long time.  it's kind of a sad place.  just a mirror of everything that is wrong with this world.  rude people, spending money they don't have, not paying attention to others while they drive their giant SUVs through the parking garage.  and then laughing when the ALMOST crush you. 

laughing?  it was THAT funny?!  ass hat.

i did pick up something good though.  heh.

Eye Candy Friday

the building where i work a couple days a week forms these crazy looking shadows on the building next to it. to me they look like chromosomes.   most of the building houses laboratory space so i thought it was a very cool design feature.  but apparently it's just a coincidence.  i find that pretty hard to believe.

Just a Quick Post Before Bed

today was a really long day.  i was out of the house early only to get caught in hellish traffic.  WTF!  it was sunny!

My Favorite Room

my craft room/office is my favorite room in the house.  it's my room.  with all of my favorite stuff.  and i seriously would never leave it if it had a tv. 

and except for the computer cords and modems and routers under the desk, all of the mess is my mess.  there are no power tools, model helicopters, laundry, work receipts, old paint cans, or other male detritus here like there are in every other room of this house.  (for details just click on the photo).

and against the wall behind me is the closet.  there are plenty of things about this house that i'm not all that excited about -- the lack of siding, no window trim (although the windows are brand spanking new), the stupidly low ceilings -- but what i do like is that there's lots of closet space.  and as you can see, i've taken full advantage of that fact.

day 283 -- snow day tomorrow!

One Hundred and Nineteen Gallons of Yarn

today i went to ikea for the 2nd time in my life.  the first time i went was shortly after it had opened and i made the fatal error of going with j.  he was pissed off before we even entered the store, so that visit didn't last long and i came home empty handed.

today i met a friend there and we got there bright and early so the experience was all together different.  i was very focused though and came home with exactly what i planned on getting -- storage bins.  my craft/yarn closet was spilling out into the office and it was making me twitchy.   and when i got home, i got straight to work. 

people, it's embarrassing.  i filled seven 17gallon bins with yarn.  true, not all of it is of the highest quality but still. 

but hey, at least i got something accomplished.

Why Did the Turkeys Cross the Road?

to scare the bejesus out of me.

this morning, i was driving along, taking a shortcut through the backroads to avoid traffic on the masspike when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, were a bunch of turkeys!  i had seen these guys before at a distance, but this was the first time i'd seen them up close.  crazy isn't it.  if i wasn't 100% awake before running into them, i certainly was after.

day 279 -- for the record, no turkeys were injured this morning.  in fact, had i hit one of these guys, chances are my car would have taken the brunt.  my car is small and these guys were  not.

Whatever I Want Wednesday

this week's photography class assignment was to play with shutter speed and to experiment with several techniques to show or freeze movement.  this one might be my favorite.  when i first saw it and it made me feel a little nauseous i knew i had nailed it.
