Lunch and a Movie

i forced myself to go out today.  sometimes laying around the house just makes me feel sicker than i really am.  so it was good that i got out.  i met a friend whom I hadn't see in months for lunch and then we went to see Will Smith's latest film "Seven Pounds." i hadn't read or heard anything about it so i didn't have any preconceived ideas or impressions.  and i have to say that i really enjoyed it.  it made me think.  it made me work a little.  if you have any interest in seeing this, don't bother reading a review.  part of the appeal for me of this movie was not entirely understanding what this character was doing and why he was doing it.  just an FYI.  this is not a comedy.  just so you know.

Oh Edward -- Take Me!

so saturday night, i got together with the girls and we went to see Twilight.  yeah yeah, i know what you're thinking. aren't we a little too old for Twilight?  yep, maybe.  but since my inner 15 year old is still alive and kicking, i think i was just mature enough to appreciate it.

my expectations were low.  i'd read two of the books and well they're kind of crappy in a "i must read these so i can find out what happened but god i hate these books" sort of way. and in some ways, the movie is the same.  overly melodramatic, unintentionally laughable in many places and awesome in it's cheesiness.  yes, awesome.  some might say it  sucked, but i had a wonderful time.  i think i want to see it again.

i've been doing a little knitting but i've had to go into work early these days so it's been really too dark to take pictures in the morning.  i swear work gets in the way of my life let me tell you.  so when i've got nothing, i do a meme.

Fat Dumb and Drunk ...

Animal House is one of my all time favorite movies.  i saw it for the first time my senior year in highschool in one of those theatres on the Champs Elysees in v.o (or version orignale).  i don't know why i love it so much.    i just know that if during channel surfing i come across the movie on tv,  i have to finish watching it.  i've even seen otis day and the knights play at the now defunct cambridge, house of blues.

anyway, dean wormer died today.  rest in peace dean wormer.

Jude Not So Obscure

as i write this, i'm watching inside the actor's studio. jude law is the actor being interviewed.  not only is he physically beautiful, he's got that easy going, unselfconscious charm that makes me totally incapable of taking my eyes off of him.   he's also got a fantastically large head.  as do i.  you'll excuse me if i seem distracted.  (by the way, i've been obsessed with him for years.  i haven't jumped on the People's Sexiest Man Alive bandwagon although i do applaud their choice).

i finally found my own LYS that isn't AC Moore.  or rather a YS, since it isn't as local as i'd like it to be.  last weekend i went to the Fabric Place in framingham to help a friend buy supplies to make christmas stockings and found out that they don't only carry fabric.  THEY CARRY YARN.  GOOD YARN!  NORO, CLASSIC ELITE, BROWN SHEEP.... (no koigu but it's just a matter of time).  i didn't buy any yarn, but i did buy plenty of books.  (check out the floors by the way... they looked like this once.)

i've got this stuff waiting in the wings.
