today's post is brought to you by carole and her 10 on Tuesday series. with it being so close to Thanksgiving, the topic of the day was 10 Things you are thankful for. Oh what the hell.
1. I'm thankful for my family. And that includes J. heh. things for us were very different last year. I'm thankful that we will be celebrating Thanksgiving together this year.
2. My mother had a health scare earlier this fall. She was in the hospital off and on for 6 weeks, with a week or two in ICU. I'm thankful that she's out of the woods and although still worn out, she's back home, tormenting my father (i kid, um, not really. heh.)
3. I'm thankful that my parents living in France means that although they are far THEY HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL HAVE THE QUALITY HEALTH CARE THAT THEY NEED REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN NOT PAY. I very rarely get political on this blog, but i will say this. it's an abomination that in this country we do not have universal healthcare. an abomination.
4. And being that I live in the United States, I am thankful that J and I have jobs that provide us with adequate and high quality health insurance. Thing is, if we are ever to lose our jobs, so goes our health insurance. which makes no sense whatsoever.
5. I am thankful for the little pill i take every morning. i take 20mg of celexa. it has changed my life. I only wish I had been diagnosed with anxiety and depression and treated years ago. Although I hesitate to think of last summer/fall as a blessing perhaps I should now that the pain and hurt have softened a bit. I would never have sought out help otherwise.
6. I am thankful for my friends. They know who they are.
7. I am thankful for being able to indulge in my passions and that even after years of doing them, I still enjoy them as much as I do.
8. Even though my house is still covered in tyvek, I'm thankful that I'm home again. I really missed not being here last year.
9. I am thankful that I have really great hair. heh. I'm very overweight, I have a big nose, my skin is seriously showing the signs of aging, I have hag hairs and weak nails, but I've always really had great hair.
10. I am thankful that this list ends at 10. Not that I don't have other things I'm thankful for, but damn I'm tired.
