want to know what 500 potholders look like?  imagine 3 times more than what you see here.

there were potholders all over adrian's house.  it was a little bit crazy.  but so much fun.  and so great to see everyone's work.

there might also been cocktails ....

Potholderpalooza

in a little bit, i'm off to adrian's house to help her and maritza sort through the 500 or so potholders that were sent in for the swap.  i can't even imagine what 500 potholders will look like.  i promise to take pictures. 

Sad News

I "met" Jenn a few years ago, early in my blogging life.  She was kind and sweet and we figured out early on that we lived maybe at most a couple of miles from each other.  but we never met.  i wasn't meeting people back then (heh), and i think that she was maybe just a little shy.   She also lived with Cystic Fibrosis. 

I use the past tense here because i found out this morning that she passed away this week.  her postings had become erratic and i worried whenever she "disappeared" but every few months she would pop up again and matter of factly  talk about her latest hospital stay, or round of tests.   the thing is, and this is what always amazed me about her, she never complained on her blog.  she was stoic and upbeat and strong.  so very strong for such a physically frail girl.

I wish her family and loved ones all the best in this difficult time.  I will miss her.

A Lovely Saturday

it didn't take much coaxing on carole's part for me to offer to give her a crochet lesson.  in fact, she might have just said something about wanting to learn when i offered to drive to her house to teach her.  see, going to carole's is like getting a hug.  she has a lovely family and a warm and inviting home, and good snacks.  always good snacks. 

i just wish i lived closer.  thanks carole for a great saturday afternoon!

only pippa, the cutest puppy ever!  yep, i drove out west to do a little knitting and just to hang out.  i may have also picked up my december hello yarn fiber too.  it's really pretty.

day 178 -- resting.  i got to meet some really great women this weekend and i had a blast.  i hope they had fun too.

Ce N'est Qu'un Au Revoir

so tonight at knit night we bid our friend adrian (aka HelloYarn) a fond farewell.   see, she's leaving us and moving west.  well, to western mass anyway.

anyway, we'll miss you!  but not too much.  because there will be a lot of visiting.

day 129 -- today i did the "initial test" for the 100 push up training plan.  let's just say that it could have been worse. 

WIP Wednesday

this week's WIP wednesday won't be about anything i'm working on.  no, this week i'm going to tell you about the fabulous dress that stitchy mcyarnpants is working on.

it's a beer can dress or should i say "gown."

oh yes, you read that correctly.  and it's for an excellent cause. 

anyway, monday night stitchy brought the bodice to knit night so we could check out her masterpiece in person.  here's the designer herself modeling it for us.  gorgeous!  check out the bows at the shoulder.

and diana showing us where she thinks there should be tassels.

finally, check out the versatility of this awesome dress.  even our very pregnant newest member looks beautiful in it.

looks like even THE BIG GUY might approve.  (i swear i heard angels singing).

it's just a matter of time before we see Stitchy on Project Runway.  I can see it now.

Dressing Up a Nikon

i'm not much of a fashion plate. i'm usually wearing jeans a t-shirt and sneakers or clogs.  sometimes an occasional handknit.

but my camera likes to be dressed to the nines.

when caro created her prototype camera strap, i think i might have gushed a little bit.  so she made me one.  an orange one.  (gah!)

 

and the nikon loves it!
